TED Aims

TED Konya Koleji is part of the group of schools belonging to the Turkish Education Association founded in 1928. The aims of the Association and our school are to educate children to be open - minded, creative and be good citizens. Konya TED Koleji was founded just four years ago but carries on this tradition.

Location of  TED Konya

Our school is located 20 km outside Konya city in a rural environment. All the students come to school by service buses which collect and deliver them to and from their homes.

The school Year

The year is divided into two semesters. The first begins around 15 September and ends around 24 January. The second begins around 7 February and finishes on 10 June. These dates change slightly from year to year as the important religious celebrations which follow the calendar are movable feasts.

The school Day

Our school day begins at 8.45 and finishes at 4.00. It is divided into eight forty minute lessons with a ten minute break between and a fifty minute lunch time. These times change a little during Ramadan. The children eat lunch in a dining hall and have supervised indoor and outdoor places in which to play.

Student Profile

Our school, like other TED schools is a private co-ed school with a secular orientation.

At present our school caters for primary students but as these children grow the school will develop high school facilities. We have 213 students at our school this year 113 boys and 100 girls. Children can begin in the kindergarten at five or six years old and move up through grades 1-8.

The Curriculum

All children must study the core subjects - Maths, English, Turkish, Science, Social Studies, Art, Physical Education, Music, Health and Traffic. Optional subjects are Computer Studies and German.

Extra Curricular Activities

Students have a wide choice of sporting, academic and cultural clubs. Two hours each week are dedicated to these activities. Students can choose from English drama, chess, English fun clubs, journalism, tennis, basketball, horseriding and ballet to mention a few.
