This year (2004-2005) our school, in the frames of extra-curriculum cultural activities, is taking part in the European Programme –Socrates Comenius 1-dealing with consumer’s education, with the title’’ Use your senses and be sensible’’. During this programme we intend to deal with the Mediterranean diet, which is originated from the ancient Greek alimentation, as we can see from ancient Greek texts. Moreover, we will introduce a unique Greek product which is produced in a Greek island, the island of Chios, the only place in the world where this product can be found. ''The mastic of Chios" is known in Greece since antiquity for its many curative properties. We are going to study its history, its effects on our health, as well as to use it in some recipes, foods and sweets. Our partner schools are: 1. Kolari Comprehensive school, Lapland, Finland 2.
